Cycling in Piedmont - along the hills of Barolo

Cycling in the beautiful region of Piedmont

A cycling holiday for all food and wine lovers!
Rolling green hills with the white peaks of the Alps as a backdrop, in the cradle of the slow food movement, through the famous vineyards of the Barolo and Barbaresco area.
Taste the most famous regional dishes: the spicy ‘Bagna Cauda’, many fine chocolates, cheeses and savoury salami’s and of course the famous white truffle from Alba.
Choose between 8 days/ 7 nights, or 5 days/ 4 nights.
Both trips start and end in the city of Alba, with Roman, Baroque and Gothic architecture. You will be cycling through meadows, vineyards and winding valleys, crowned by solid castles. You will also enter the area of Alta Langa, centre of slow food and the famous Barolo and Barbaresco wines. From Benevello, you’ll take a delightful round trip that winds its way over streams with stunning views, through hazelnut forests and several chapels, with breathtaking views along the ridges to Mombarcaro, Alta Langa’s highest village, located at 900 metres.
The panoramic views with the Alps in the background are magnificent. On the 8 day trip you will also cycle through the Bormida Valley, on a fantastic little country road, to the famous SPA town of Acqui Terme. Along the way, you will pass several beautiful villages and castles.
The bike rides are quite challenging due to the hilly landscape, which means that the food of the region will taste even better after the efforts on the bike. If you are unsure of your fitness, we recommend an electric bike.
As usual, you cycle at your own pace, and can adapt your pace during the day.

Highlights

  • Cycle in a rolling wine country with stunning views
  • Visit authentic old Italian villages and towns
  • The famous local truffle often used in Piedmont's gastronomic cuisine

Nice bike tour
Well-composed trip in fantastic scenery. We were very grateful we chose e-bikes; they were very good, but at least one of us probably got the wrong size as the frame was too high. The hotels were also very good, but we had quite a hard time finding suitable places to eat at our pace. The packed lunch mentioned in the information perhaps should be highlighted in bold. The app with maps was excellent.

Bike trip Piemonte Alba via Barolo – Cravanzana – Alba
Very satisfied with the route planning and all the help from EverTrek. Wonderful accommodations both in Alba and Cravanzana. Stunning views and great food and drink. Very friendly and helpful at the accommodations. Good bikes. Unfortunately, we had rain 2 of the 3 days. We will definitely go on a cycling trip with you again!

Alba-Benevello-Alba
Wonderful trip! Fantastic accommodations and well-organized with bikes, luggage transfers, etc. An absolutely amazing landscape to cycle through, but it also requires some “power” in the legs (unless, of course, you have an e-bike). The food and wines are, of course, top-notch!

3-day cycling
Nice trip with very beautiful views, good wine and food, of course. Accommodations were good, the bikes were good. It would have been much nicer if the bike routes had been on smaller roads instead of the main roads shown on the map and guides. There are plenty of smaller roads, so it would have been easy to guide guests onto those instead.

Alba-Benevillo-Alba July 2024
Nice trip, fantastic nature and excellent accommodation. Good food at the accommodation in Benevillo! The bikes were not entirely okay; one had a frame size that was far too large and broken gears, which made the first stage extra tough. Got a new bike that was fairly okay, though still heavy-geared (not electric bikes).

Alba-Benevello-Alba
A fantastic trip through incredibly beautiful areas. The cycling route was very well planned and took us through several of the most famous and charming villages. We also received smooth assistance with booking transfers, and communication with Evertrek worked excellently. We recommend an e-bike — it would have been very tough otherwise! The only thing we were disappointed with was the physical map we ordered. What we received was a printed version of a PDF file that you get anyway, in low print quality and stapled together. For 40 EUR, we expected a significantly better product. We look forward to more trips in the future!
