Experience and physical challenge
Not very technical cycling, but a good mix of easier sections and some that were really demanding. Several stages offered truly beautiful nature with cork oak forests and long stretches along the coast where the cliffs dropped steeply into the sea. Lovely small villages with nice accommodation and mostly good restaurants. However, there was a miss in the village of Odeceixe where the hotel served a non-existent breakfast, not great when you have tough cycling ahead of you. The first two stages had perhaps a bit too much road, but according to the local organiser these routes will be changed. Navigation with the GPS worked fantastically well.
