The Gorges du Tarn is, as its name suggests, a very beautiful gorge formed by the Tarn river. Surrounded by endless horizons of limestone plateaus, the Jonte and Tarn rivers flow along small green valleys. The contrasting colours of the landscape are a delight to the eye, with the green valleys and their rivers lined with steep red cliffs rising 400-500 metres. During the hikes, you can see and smell the lovely Mediterranean vegetation with lavender, orchids in spring, maples, oaks and much more. During the week’s hikes, you will of course visit traditional, charming villages with typical stone houses and their characteristic ‘Lauze roofs’.
The hikes are of medium difficulty, which means about 4-6 hours of hiking per day, with altitude differences of between 200 – 700 m.
