Discover the historic landscape of Rhodes and enjoy Greek hospitality, the turquoise sea and the lush, wild nature.
During this trip, you’ll have the opportunity to explore the largest of the Dodecanese islands, Rhodes, located in southeastern Greece near the coast of Turkey. By bike, you will experience one of Greece’s most beloved islands from a new and different perspective. You’ll cycle through remote villages, taste local wines and olives, and enjoy the mild Mediterranean climate.
Easy seaside rides are interspersed with more challenging routes in mountainous areas. The landscape offers great variety, from vast pine forests to flowering fields, especially in spring. As you cycle along the coast, you can admire the views of the sparkling deep blue sea and stop in picturesque fishing villages.
On the bike you will also discover many historical sites. Over 2300 years ago, Rhodes played an important role in the ancient world, which can still be experienced in Kamiros and Lindos. The city of Rhodes, once a crusader fortress, is today a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Spend two nights here and have the opportunity to explore the historic Crusader town or take a day trip by bike to the nearby island of Symi.

Itinerary
Day 1 Arrival in Rhodes
Arrival in Rhodes. Transfer from the airport to the first hotel is included.
Day 2 Round trip from Kalavarda - 37 km
The day begins with the collection of bicycles.
Then you will make a day trip from Kalavarda, along the sparsely populated north-west coast. You will cycle on the coastal road near the sea, towards the ruins of ancient Kamiros, which you can visit either on the way there or on the way back. In the village of Mandriko, there is a genuine kafenion where you can take a coffee break – also take the opportunity to admire the beautiful church next to the café.
After crossing a low hill, you will come down to the small fishing harbour of Skala Kamiros, from where small ferries depart to the island of Chalki. From here, make a detour to the medieval fortress of Kritinia. From its impressive walls, you can enjoy stunning views of the inhabited island of Chalki and the surrounding uninhabited islands.
After your visit, return to Skala and follow the same route back to Kalavarda. With the sun at your back and usually a tailwind, the journey will be pleasant. Once back at the hotel, you can relax and enjoy a delicious dinner included for the evening.

Day 3 Cycling via Petaloudes to Rhodes Town - 43 km
You start your bike ride northwards, parallel to the coast. In the village of Fanes, you’ll be greeted by the colourful houses that make the village so unique. You then continue inland, towards the valley of Petaloudes, which means ‘butterflies’ in Greek. In this lush green gorge, you can see thousands of butterflies during the summer, from late June to mid-September.
The tour continues through a wooded area to the village of Maritsa and further north to Pastida, where you will find several excellent tavernas for a break. The tour ends by entering the old centre of Rhodes, through one of the city gates and cycling through the medieval town centre to your hotel, located within the historic city walls.

Day 4 Tour of Rhodes Town or excursion to Symi - 6 km (23 km)
Today you have two options:
Option 1: A fantastic walking tour of Rhodes’ ancient centre, which not only guides you to the city’s main sights but also lets you discover hidden alleys and surprising places.
Option 2: Another option for the day is an excursion to the picturesque island of Symi, provided ferries are available. The excursion starts at the Monastery of Panormitis on the south coast of the island. Then you will cycle across the island to the main town of Symi – a distance of 22 kilometres, with an altitude difference of 500 metres. In the afternoon, take the ferry back to Rhodes.
Day 5 Cycling along the east coast to Archangellos - 39 km
Today’s tour takes you along the beautiful east coast. The first highlight is the ancient Turkish baths of Kalithea, recently restored to their former glory.
At Afandou, you’ll pedal along quiet beaches and admire the view of the Tsambika Monastery, built on top of a 300-metre cliff. Today’s journey ends in Archangellos, a lively and charming Greek village.

Day 6 Round trip to Lindos - 52 km
Today you can cycle the 3 kilometres to Stegna beach and spend a relaxing day by the sea, or you can choose to visit Lindos. You can cycle there or take the bus.
Lindos is a beautiful little village of white cubist houses at the foot of a vertical cliff, crowned by the ancient Acropolis of Lindos. Built around two small harbours on either side, the village was easily defended in ancient times, thanks to the Acropolis on top. After parking your bike at the village entrance, you can visit the Acropolis, where you’ll find the remains of ancient temples inside a medieval fortress.

Day 7 Cycling to the west coast and Kalavarda - 40 km
First, cycle to Epta Piges, a scenic spot in the forest with seven springs, a taverna and some peacocks. Then you’ll make your way up a green valley to the Monastery of Agios Nektarios, where you’ll find a refreshing spring and a large plane tree.
Eleousa is an interesting village, built about 80 years ago by the Italians. Many of the houses are now abandoned and in disrepair. A marvellous road, winding up the hillside, leads you to the oldest Byzantine chapel on Rhodes, Fountoukli.
It then heads down towards the west coast, through the village of Dimilia and past the chapel of Silas, built in a cave. You continue along the coast and cycle parallel to it, all the way to Kalavarda.
