Itinerary

8 days/ 7 nights

Day 1 Arrival in Stralsund

Welcome to Stralsund! Drop off your bags at your accommodation and take a stroll through this charming little town. End the evening with a delicious meal at one of the city’s great restaurants. Tomorrow, the journey really begins!

Day 2 From Stralsund to Bergen - 40 km (52 km)

Today, you’ll start by cycling across the bridge back to the island of Rügen and the town of Altefähr. The route then continues along the Kubitzer Bodden, through the island’s southwestern region, and past the Vorpommersche Boddenlandschaft National Park — a true paradise for bird lovers. Overnight stay in Bergen or the surrounding area.

Day 3 From Bergen to Binz/Sellin - 29 km (34 km)

A tour of Bergen can be a great way to start the day if you didn’t have the chance yesterday. This is the largest town on the island of Rügen and well worth exploring. When you’re ready, hop back on your bike and ride along tree-lined roads and through forests until you reach Putbus – a beautiful resort town that’s perfect for a lunch stop. Today’s destination is the seaside resorts, with overnight accommodation in Binz, Sellin, Baabe, or Göhren.

Day 4 Cycling around Mönchsgut - 26 km (36 km)

Today, you’ll explore the Mönchsgut peninsula, cycling along beautiful sandy beaches, cliffs, and charming fishing villages. For fishermen and farmers, this area has been an important place throughout the years. You’ll cycle back and spend another night at the same hotel. It’s also possible to shorten the return route by taking the train (not included in the tour).

Day 5 From Binz/Sellin to Sassnitz - 19 km (52 km)

You’ll begin by cycling through the forest area of Granitz, then continue along the long eastern bay to Prora, home to the world’s longest building complex, constructed between 1936 and 1939. From there, the route takes you past the Mukran ferry terminal and on to today’s final destination, Sassnitz. Overnight stay in Sassnitz or the surrounding area.

Day 6 From Sassnitz to Wittow - 22 km (54 km)

Today’s cycling offers breathtaking views of both sea and land as you reach Königsstuhl National Park. Here, you can visit the impressive chalk cliffs — towering over 100 meters high — and take a walk through the magnificent beech forest before continuing your ride. A bit further along, the landscape opens up with views toward Cape Arkona.
Overnight stay in Trent, Bohlendorf, Wiek, Breege, Juliusruh, or the surrounding area.

Day 7 From Wittow, via Hiddensee, to Stralsund - 20 km (38 km)

Today, you’ll cycle along the Wittow peninsula, located in the northern part of Rügen. From Breege, you’ll take the ferry to Hiddensee — Rügen’s charming little sister island. As a cyclist, you’ll especially enjoy the fact that the island is completely car-free. The viewpoint Dornbusch rises 60 meters above the island, offering stunning views. Hiddensee features a unique heath landscape, and the fishing villages of Kloster and Vitte invite you to take a leisurely stroll. In the afternoon, you’ll leave the island and take the ferry back to Stralsund.
