Welcome to Sicily!
From the airport, we recommend you to take the public transport to the port of Milazzo, alternatively book a private transfer with your reservation. From Milazzo, take the boat across to Lipari where you will stay for the next four nights. During your stay in Lipari, we have a selection of 5 different walks for you to choose from, 3 on Lipari, 1 on the island of Salina and 1 on the island of Vulcano.

Hike on Lipari – West Coast.
From Lipari you take the local bus to Quattropani, where you start this very varied hike along the western coast of the island, the wildest part of Lipari. Here you have some nice views of Salina, Filicudi and Alicudi while you are passing small, charming, old villages along the way.
14 km, +586 m, -950 m, 5 h.

(An alternative hike is on the southern part of Lipari, with nice views towards the island of Vulcano (11 km +/- 470 m).

The island of Salina, a short boat ride from Lipari, has a very special setting and the village of Pollara is where the film “The Messenger” was recorded. The day starts with a short boat and bus journey to the starting point of the hike. It is quite demanding, steep hike both up and down, but it is worth the effort as you get to enjoy some very beautiful views of the islands of Filicudi and Alicudi.
The hike ends in Rinella where you take a bus back to the harbor.

Vulcano is a beautiful little island where you hike up to a large crater that is yellowish due to the sulphurous smoke.
From the top you have a wide view of the whole island and the sea. There is also a beautiful beach for a swim after the hike.
6 km, +290 m, -290 m, 2,5 h

The day starts with a boat trip to Stromboli, the ever-active volcano, where you will also stay for one night.
Today you will have to carry your own bags on the boat. When you have arrived on Stromboli you will be transferred from the harbour to your accommodation.
The hike on Stromboli is unique and spectacular, taking you up to 270 metres above sea level, from where you can see the lava flow ‘Sciara del Fuoco.
9 km, +425 m, -425 m, 3 h.

Today you will travel by boat from Stromboli to Milazzo, then by train or bus to Taormina.
After breakfast you will have a transfer to Stromboli harbour, where you will travel to Taormina (With your luggage).
After checking into your hotel in Taormina, you’ll have plenty of time to explore this charming and lively town with its narrow alleys, ice cream parlours, amphitheatre and more.

In the morning, a transfer is included to Piano Provenzano, where the hike with a local English-speaking guide begins.
During the tour you will walk on the majestic Mount Etna through old lava fields and fragrant maquie bushes. Lunch with local specialities is also included.
10 km, +450 m, -450 m, 5 h

After breakfast, you will be transferred to the train station in Giarre where your week’s journey with us ends. Alternatively, you can pre-book a transfer directly to the airport.

Hiking Lipari – West Coast:
From Lipari you will take the local bus to Quattropani, where you start this very varied hike along the western coast of the island, the wildest part of Lipari. Here you will have some nice views of Salina, Filicudi and Alicudi, while passing small, charming, old villages along the way.

Hiking the southern part of Lipari:  T
This varied hike on the southern point of Lipari, overlooking the island of Vulcano, starts and ends at the harbor. The first stretch takes you to an astronomical observatory, overlooking Vulcano and the barren rocks called ‘faraglioni’. You then continue down to the old town centre of Lipari, with its historical and artistic beauties.

Hike on the island of Salina:
Salina is a short boat ride from Lipari and has a very special environment. In the village of Pollara, the film “The Messenger” was recorded.
The day starts with a short boat and bus ride to the starting point of the hike. It is a rather demanding hike, steep both up and down, but it is worth the effort as you get to enjoy the very beautiful views of the islands Filicudi and Alicudi.
The hike ends in Rinella, where you will have to take a bus back to the harbor for the return to Lipari.
