We start our journey in charming town of Chioggia, on the southern edge of the Venice Lagoon, and finish the trip in the Renaissance capital of Florence, in idyllic Tuscany. Along the way you will pass through three regions (Veneto, Emilia-Romagna and Tuscany) filled with marvellous vineyards, fruit orchards, olive groves and lots of charming towns and villages.

Itinerary

Day 1 Arrival in Chioggia

Welcome to Chioggia and the Venice Lagoon! Take the opportunity to stroll and explore this charming little town, admiring the canals, the bridges and the lively pedestrianised street. If you feel like taking a test ride today, head over on the local ferry and go to one of the islands in the lagoon, where you can cycle 17 km.
Tomorrow the journey really begins!

Day 2 Cycling to the mouth of the Po River - 58 km

Today we leave the Venice lagoon and cycle towards where the river Po meets the sea. Enjoy cycling on quiet roads with amazing birdlife. We recommend you to bring a picnic as there are many beautiful places to stop for lunch. In this area you will cycle through green and lush nature until you finally reach your accommodation on a cosy farm. (If you would like to cycle further, you can follow a new 43 km route)

Day 3 Cycling to Comacchio - 80 km

You will start the day by cycling through an old hunting forest, formerly owned by the powerful Este family. Along the way you will have the opportunity to visit the impressive Pomposa Castle, before finally reaching the ancient lagoon town of Comacchio. Here you will spend the rest of the evening and night.

Day 4 Cycling from Comacchio to Ravenna - 53 km

Today you will continue your journey southwards, along the Commachio Valley among small fishing villages and islands, arriving at your accommodation in the city of Ravenna after a wonderful day of cycling. Here you can enjoy several interesting sights, such as Dante’s tomb and the mosaics of San Vitale.

Day 5 Cycling from Ravenna to Faenza - 52 km

On your way out of Ravenna, we recommend you to stop at Sant’Apollinare in Classe, a Byzantine masterpiece. From here you will cycle through the countryside, surrounded by green plains and beautiful orchards. Towards the evening you will reach your accommodation in the famous pottery town of Faenza.
End the day with a treat in Piazza del Popolo, one of the finest squares in Italy.

Day 6 Cycling from Faenza to Florence - 72 km or 104 km

Today you will cycle from Faenza to Brisighella, through fruit and olive groves with the Apennine Mountains in the background. You can also choose to skip the cycling today and take a lovely train journey from Faenza across the Apennines to Florence. We offer you three wonderful options to get over the mountains from Emilia-Romagna to Tuscany!

Option 1: Finish the bike tour in Faenza, leave the bikes at the hotel and take the train to Florence, with your luggage in hand (the train ticket to Florence is included in the package price).

Option 2: Cycle from Faenza to the valley village of Borgo San Lorenzo (72 km), from here you will take the train to Florence with your bike.

Option 3: Cycle all the way from Faenza to Florence.

NOTES. Alt 2: 145 € per person + 1 extra day of bike rental. (This is due to luggage and bike transport to your hotel in Florence, minimum 2 people).
