The Prosecco route

Cycling in Italy along the Prosecco route

Welcome to Italy!
Take the opportunity to experience the beautiful Veneto region, where Prosecco wine is exclusively produced. The journey starts with cycling along the Sile River, towards the cypress-clad hills of Montegrappa. Along the way, it is recommended to stop in the medieval town of Bassano del Grappa to visit the ‘grappa’ museum, the famous liqueur produced here. Here you will also visit the charming town of Asolo, the ‘city of a hundred horizons’. The journey continues through the Prosecco region, with its vineyard-covered hills and incredible views, to the small town of Follina, situated at the foot of the Dolomite Mountains.
The journey ends in the beautiful and Venice-like city of Treviso.
By following the Prosecco route from vineyard to vineyard, you will experience first-hand what makes this particular part of Italy so special.

Itinerary

Day 1 Arrival in Castelfranco Veneto

Welcome to Italy and Castelfranco Veneto.
After checking in, we recommend you explore the city and its beautiful architecture, such as the magnificent city walls, which are still intact. In addition to the very well-preserved city walls, you will also find six ancient towers, which rise in the four corners of the city and in the centres of the east and south. Castelfranco Veneto is known above all for its eight hundred years of history and its strategic location in the centre of Veneto.
Simply a perfect start to your journey through this beautiful region!

Day 2 Cycling from Castelfranco Veneto to Bassano del Grappa - 40 km

The day starts by cycling along the ‘sentiero degli ezzelini’ path, that follows a canal all the way to the charming mountain town of Asolo, one of Italy’s most beautiful villages and nicknamed the ‘City of a Hundred Horizons’. From Asolo you cycle along minor roads with beautiful views of mountains and vineyards to the final destination of the day, Bassano del Grappa. This small town is best known for its ‘grappa’, a strong spirit produced by distilling the skins, pulp, seeds and stalks left over from winemaking. Its history has been shaped by the Brenta River, which flows through the city, close to the historic centre. Here the two banks are joined by a magnificent wooden bridge, which has become the symbol of the city.
40 km + 330 m – 255 m

Day 3 Cycling from Bassano del Grappa to Valdobbiadene – 46 km

Today you will cycle along country roads surrounded by stunning nature. Along the way you will have the opportunity to stop and visit the magnificent ‘Tempio Canoviano’ in Possagno. From here, you will follow a road with views of the valley on your right and the mountains on your left. The last stretch is on a quiet cycle path along the Piave river. The final destination of the day is the small village of Valdobbiadene, located in a valley surrounded by an incredibly beautiful landscape.
46 km + 725 m – 605 m

Day 4 Cycling from Valdobbiadene to Pieve di Soligo – 30 km

After breakfast, the tour starts with a nice climb towards the village of Santo Stefano and then continues on one of the most beautiful roads in the whole region. The breathtaking views of the snow-capped Alps along the way are an image you will never forget. Today’s terrain is much more hilly than in the past and although the climbs are never very long, they can sometimes be steep. The panoramic views you will encounter make all your efforts worthwhile.
After a great day, you’ll roll into Pieve di Soligo, a picturesque little village of about 2000 inhabitants. Here you will spend the rest of the evening and night.
30 km

Day 5 Cycling around Pieve di Soligo - 48 km

An exciting and challenging tour awaits you today. After a nice climb, you will pass through the small village of Refrontolo, located along the ‘Prosecco route’. Soon after, you will reach the historic town of Vittorio Veneto, known for its involvement in the Second World War and its two hearts. From here, the cycle continues uphill, passing the Revine Lakes and some artistic vineyards until you finally reach Pieve di Soligo. Along the way, we also recommend stopping at the old watermill ‘Molinetto della Croda’, which is still in use and can be visited.
The evening and night will once agin be spent in Pieve di Soligo.
48 km + 765 m – 765 m

Day 6 Cycling from Pieve di Soligo to Treviso – 37 km

The day starts again with cycling among the breathtaking hills of the Prosecco region.
You will pass the imposing castle of Castello San Salvatore before cycling through the mountains to the town of Susegana. From here, you’ll cycle along small roads and cycle paths to Treviso, your destination.
After arriving at your hotel in Treviso, we recommend taking a walk through this old and charming town. Relax with a glass of wine in a bar in Treviso’s main square ‘Piazza dei Signori’, just a few steps from your hotel.
A perfect end to a memorable and beautiful journey!
