Itinerary

Day 1 Arrival

Arrival in Hamburg. Explore the city on your own; tomorrow the cycling tour truly begins.

Day 2 Hamburg to Lübeck - 55 km

On beautiful cycle paths, you make your way to Lübeck. A highlight along the route is the Elbe–Lübeck Canal, which you follow for most of the journey. Lübeck’s church towers are visible from afar, welcoming you to explore the city.

Day 3 Lübeck to Neustadt/Holstein - 65 km

From Lübeck, the route continues toward the Baltic Sea coast. The Baltic Sea Cycle Route takes you north to Neustadt, a town with an authentic maritime atmosphere. The harbor invites pleasant walks, and in the historic town center, there are plenty of cafés and restaurants to end the day.

Day 4 Neustadt/Holstein to Fehmarn - 50 km

From Neustadt, the journey continues along the coast toward the island of Fehmarn. Along the way, you pass charming seaside resorts and small fishing villages. One of the highlights of this stage is the Fehmarn Sound Bridge — the impressive bridge connecting the mainland to the island, offering spectacular views of the sea and the surrounding coastal landscape.

Day 5 Fehmarn to Lolland/Maribo - 55 km

A short drive takes you to the ferry port in Puttgarden, from where the ferry departs to Rødby in Denmark. The crossing takes about 45 minutes. Afterwards, you cycle through the picturesque landscape of the island of Lolland to Maribo, where your accommodation awaits. The town offers many sightseeing opportunities, including Maribo Cathedral and the open-air museum.

Day 6 Lolland/Maribo to Naestved - 70 km

Today’s ride takes you through rural Lolland and across the Storstrøm Bridge to the island of Falster. You cycle across Falster, and after crossing Guldborgsund, you reach Zealand — Denmark’s largest island — with Næstved as the final destination. Næstved is a historic town with many cultural attractions, including Gavnø Castle and the Medieval Centre.

Day 7 Næstved to Copenhagen – 80 km

Today you cross Zealand to the island’s east coast and the charming timber-framed town of Køge. The route passes through forests, by lakes, and across fields, with plenty of signage and opportunities for breaks in the Danish countryside. Køge, a historic town with a beautiful square and well-preserved timber-framed houses, is perfect for a stop. From here, you can take the train to Copenhagen if you wish to shorten the route.
