Itinerary
Day 1 Arrival
Bled, the starting point of the trip, is situated on the shore of a beautiful glacier lake. On an island in the middle of the lake, there is a church worth visiting. The entire town is surrounded by the scenic and dramatic Alps. Take the opportunity to try the local specialty, cream cake, at one of the charming small cafés by the lake, or visit the many bars and restaurants.
Day 2 Cycling from Bled to Ribčev Laz/Bohinj Valley – 27 km
The day begins with a transfer up to Pokljuka, from where you start cycling towards Ribčev Laz. Once up in the mountains, you can admire the stunning views before descending into the Bohinj Valley, a magical area in the heart of Triglav National Park. Along today’s cycling route, you will pass one charming Alpine village after another on your way to Ribčev Laz. The town is situated by Lake Bohinj and is well worth exploring. Cycle around the lake to the Savica Waterfall, take the cable car up to Mount Vogel, where you’ll enjoy breathtaking views over the Bohinj Valley and Mount Triglav. Why not explore the enchanting forests surrounding the village before ending the day at one of the cozy pubs and trying the locally made honey brandy.

From the top, you cycle down through the forest into the Selska Dolina Valley, which leads you towards the Skofja Loka mountains. There you reach the small alpine village of Sorica, surrounded by green, beautiful mountains. Here you can stop and admire artworks by Ivan Grohar, who was born in this village. Your next stop can be the town of Železniki, where you can visit one of the local inns and try the delicious trout. Finally, you arrive in the beautiful town of Škofja Loka, one of the oldest towns in Slovenia.

Visit the Hostage Museum, where you will learn how thousands of men, women, and children were mistreated and executed during the German occupation in World War II. Begunje is also the hometown of the famous band Slavko Avsenik / Oberkrainer. As the sun’s last rays climb the mountain peaks, you cycle the final stretch to Kranjska Gora, surrounded by the Julian Alps and the Karawanks. Lunch is recommended at the foot of Triglav, the most majestic mountain in the Julian Alps. From here, you can enjoy the breathtaking scenery, and once recharged, continue through the Radovna Valley between the Pokljuka and Mežakla plateaus. When leaving the valley, take a short detour to the stunning Vintgar Gorge, carved by the Radovna River. The journey ends at the same point as it started: Bled.
