Piedmont is Italy’s paradise for the true gourmand, with divine food and great wines. Located between the Alps and the Apennines, the Langhe region is blessed with fertile lands that produce Tuber Magnatum – a prized white truffle – and some of Italy’s most prestigious red wines: Barolo and Barbera.
The walk from Barolo to Barbaresco is a real taste journey, with a spectacular array of local specialities such as truffles, gourmet cheeses, pastries and chocolates that are appreciated all over the world.
The walk is also a feast for the eyes with its magnificent scenery where you walk over rolling hills, through small picturesque villages, vineyards, hazelnut forests and past elegant castles and tower houses.
Accommodation along the way is a mix of hotels and charming, carefully selected family-run farms, known as agriturismos, many with renowned restaurants.
The length of the trip is 8 days/ 7 nights, or 5 days/ 4 nights (can also be adapted in number of travelling days as desired)
Difficulty level
The daily stages vary between about 8 and 20 km in slightly hilly terrain, about 200-800 altitude metres per day. We classify it as medium difficulty: 2-3 on a 5-point scale.

Northern Italy generally has a continental climate with warm summers and cold winters. The summer months tend to be dry and warm, while spring and autumn are mild and ideal for hiking.
