Ring of Kerry

Ring of Kerry - the best of Ireland

Nestled in the south-west of Ireland, County Kerry is considered one of the most beautiful parts of the world and is therefore a magical place to explore on foot. The landscape offers everything from dramatic cliffs to golden beaches, small villages, rolling meadows and rugged mountain scenery. This hiking adventure starts in the famous town of Killarney, with its three magnificent lakes. You’ll visit Waterville, one of Charlie Chaplin’s favourite fishing spots, and have the opportunity to make a detour to Skellig Island, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Hiking the Ring of Kerry in Ireland
The hike started in Killarney. All the B&Bs were of very high quality and mostly well located in relation to the trail. We could find food of acceptable quality within a kilometer of our accommodations. The hike was varied with many beautiful viewpoints overlooking the surrounding landscape. The trail mostly went through open heathland and passed few villages. Highlights of the hike included walking through wild rhododendrons in bloom and through a national park with wild forest and a spectacular waterfall. In summary, I hope everyone gets the opportunity to do this hike.
