The Sierrania de Ronda and Sierra de Grazalema are relatively undiscovered green oases, with small mountains surrounded by picturesque whitewashed villages such as Grazalema, Montejaque and the pretty town of Ronda. You’ll hike through a landscape of stunning limestone sculptures and deep gorges. Lunches will be enjoyed at a cosy outdoor restaurant with delicious tapas and local wine. The hikes will take you through green olive groves and cork oak forests in a beautiful palette of colours. During the week you will also explore the white villages ‘Pueblos Blancos’ with exotic Moorish names such as Benaocaz and Jimera del Ibar.
At the end of the week you will reach the city of Ronda, one of the most beautiful in Andalusia, with its intriguing mix of Moorish and European monuments.

Itinerary
Day 1 Arrival in Sierra de Grazalema
Today you will travel to the ‘Pueblos Blancos’ and arrive at the beautifully situated whitewashed village of Grazalema (830 m), where you will spend the next 3 nights.
Day 2 Hike from Grazalema to Benaocaz – 12 km
The first hike takes you through a classic limestone landscape with a large number of Cortijos – traditional farmhouses. You will then continue through forests with typical Mediterranean vegetation on your way to the genuine white village of Benaocaz, with preserved historical remains dating back to Roman times. The village is beautifully situated on a hill with stunning views.

Day 3 Hike around Grazalema – 16 km
Today offers a longer but easier hike through open pastures and gentle slopes. At the end of the walk, you’ll reach a charming posada in another authentic pueblo blanco – a whitewashed village with Moorish heritage and roots dating back to Roman times. Here you’ll also find a unique square bullring, making the village of Villaluenga del Rosario especially remarkable. In the afternoon, you’ll return by transfer to your hotel in Grazalema.

Day 4 Hike from Villaluenga to Benaoján – 18 km
The day starts with a 20-minute drive to the village of Villaluenga del Rosario, with its unique bullring. From Villaluenga you will descend into the idyllic valley of Llanos del Republicano. You’ll then hike up along sculpted cliffs until you reach the little jewel – the village of Montejaque. Take the opportunity to cool off before continuing to Benaoján.

Day 5 Hike along the Guadiaro River - 10 km
Today’s tour starts with a short walk to the train station, where you board the train and head to Jimera de Líbar (about a 10 min train journey.). From Jimera you will have a very scenic hike through the Rio Guadiaro valley, leading you back to your hotel.

Day 6 Hike around the Cueva de la Pileta cave - 10 km
Today you will visit the nearby Cueva de la Pileta, a cave with surprising formations and prehistoric cave paintings. On the way back you can either make a detour to have lunch in Montejaque or go directly back to the hotel and have a nice meal next to the pool.

Day 7 Hike from Montejaque to Ronda – 14,5 km
Today’s hike offers a rural route through fields and small family farms until you reach Ronda, where a spectacular bridge spans over a deep gorge that literally splits the town in two. We recommend you to also visit the historic Moorish quarters.
